Thank you all for the info.  The pull pal looks like just the ticket.  A little costly, but re-useable, and would work under various conditions.  The duckbill idea for securing items from wondering away is another great idea.  We've used that idea for dive gear when left on beaches.  Drive system in several feet, attach cable and locks and go.  Thank again.  On to my next search, a good utility trailer in Anchorage area.
