Easy Trails
Posted by Wildlife Tech on Mar 01 2005
I would do the Denali Hiway (unplowed in winter) from Paxson to Cantwell. 135 miles across with cabins and lodges at either end. You would need to carry fuel, but, there is quite a bit of snomachine traffic in case you broke down. Also, some lodges along the hiway are staying open in the winter now for snomachiners. You could do 2 days across and 2 days back. Another option is the Lake Louise trail systems. They are groomed, well marked with several wintertime lodges along the trail system and lots of friendly folks out there riding. Just a reminder though, this is still Alaska and she can be unforgiving to the unprepared.
