Chitina/Copper River access

Last summer we walked back to the slide the night before our charter. The slide area was easily passable by 4-wheeler and there were quite a few people heading back to Haley. We also saw one one guy who passed it in a small Toyota pickup. I wouldn't advise it, it's very scary to say the least. There's a big sign posted by the state that says once you are past the slide area you are on your own. The Native land access issue seems to change every year. I have difficulty remembering the situation one year to the next. All I remember is we camped in the woods upstream of the O Brien Creek bridge and the boat launched near the mouth of O Brien.
