Fire Lake
Posted by Water_Gremlin on Apr 29 2006
People with bows have great success on this lake. I hear the art of shooting a fish with a bow is quite tricky. The angle of the water relative to the fish is very discieving.

I have filled several five gallon buckets full of fire lake pike within hours. There are 4 main weed beds on this lake. Really, I dont mind shairing. Half way out into the lake theres a dock on the right side of the lake right after that funky looking house. Right after this dock theres an inlet creek on the right. About 100-150ft out is a thick weedbed. That spot is my personal favorite. Also along that whole bank offers decent pike. On the complete opposite side of the lake from this spot is a small dock with an airplane. Theres another weed bed, decent fishing but I havnt caught anything of size in this spot. On the far end of the lakes there are two small coves. The cove on the left has produced stunningly large pike for me. The other cove is ok but nothing spectacular. I fish each spot for half and hour and move to the next while continuing this rotation until its time to leave. I am almost never skunked in these holes.

By Kris Wags I meant Kris Wagner. In High school some called him Wags. I havent seen him in awhile, been meaning to say HI.

I have been more interested in coyote hunting as of late than fishing. I am heading out to knik tomorrow for some coyote calling. :-)
