Ice thickness?/
Posted by northwestalska on Apr 25 2006
It is good to hear that Tangle Lakes are all of 12 inches, but you will love this one!

I went out fishing yesterday for the great fish of NW Alaska, Shee Fish. We set up a few miles out of Kotzebue while basking in the long bright sun shine and the very hot 28 degree temps. We pulled the Ice Auger out of the Basket sled with its 6 foot drill and almost did not punch through! At 5 + feet the ocean pretended to be old faithful and covered our snow pants and boots. I think we will see a few more days of safe sno-go travel this spring! And we landed 2- 35+ pound Shee Fish in less than an hour. The guy next to us had to drill a second hole because 7 inches was not enough to land his monster which looked to be all of 45+ pounds. Man life suck some times!

No fooling guys!
