I completely disagree. If you walk upstream a few miles on a weekday you can often find fishing holes that you'll have all to yourself. I've been fishing there for nearly 20 years and still never fail to find some solitude. Yeah, it's craziness down at the confluence when the run is raging, but there's always room upstream. There are still people in the best holes, but you can find space if you're willing to work for it. If you're camping at the river, I suggest the Red Salmon campground, as this gives you better access to the upper portions of the river. If you want a cabin, there's a number of little places in the area. The previous suggestion of Gwins is a pretty good one, though it's right next to the highway. Good food, though!
