[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Bigmnt is Incorrect Posted by 17 Rem on Apr 18 2006 The 375 Weatherby and 375 Ackley Improved are both improved 375 H&H with headspacing on the belt therefore standard 375 H&H ammo can be fired for hunting or fireformed in either. Having had both in controled round feed guns (pre 64 M70 and M98 Mauser), the Weatherby favored because of the rounded shoulders tend to feed better and Weatherby speced reamers tend to have a bunch (1/2 inch) of freebore which manages high pressures a bit better than standard throats. Bigmnt may be confusing the 375 Weatherby with the 378 Weatherby with is based on a much larger case. Personal experience has shown the 375 weatherby to gain about 150 fps over a 375 H&H but recoil and muzzle blast is significant verse a standard 375 and you generally loose one round of magazine capacity.
