tipping
Posted by alaskanfishguides on Apr 17 2006
Here is some information that I posted earler on this forum:

I have received anything from the price of the charter to no tip at all. Please understand that while tips are great, they are not mandatory. I am paid to do a job and I will do that job to the best of my ability without really considering the possibility of a tip. If a client appreciates the effort and offers a tip, that's is great... but I am not offended if they don't. Some of the biggest tips that I received were on days that we didn't catch much! 10-20% is definitely the norm. Also, tipping the guide or deck hand directly most definitely communicates your affirmation to the person who you wish to reward. Let the lodge owner know verbally or by writing a note about your experience.

Now, all that being said, the absolute best tip a guide could receive is a deposit for next year's reservation...
