Looking for help.
Posted by TroutsMan on Apr 14 2006
My brothers and I have booked a Black bear hunt and fishing combo in the Tongass national forest.
We will be flying into Kake on the 23rd of may and staying in the area till the 31st of may.
We are going self guided and staying in 2 different lodges. The first lodge is in the town of Kake where we have access to 2 trucks and a 16' skiff. The second lodge is I belive down by port camden about 18 miles SW of Kake.
What can we expect during this time of year on the fishing?
I have heard the Kings will be in hiting on the ocean and the steelies will be in some of the rivers. Will there be any kings in the river systems yet?
Are the steelies still going strong at this time?
Are the halibut in the bays and hiting yet?
What are the best Bay's and streams to fish in?
I have also heard the best Black Bear hunting is down by the Rocky Pass area.. Is there any reason to try down there for a good size Black Bear or is Kake's road system good enough for a good Bear?
Any tips on Fishing for the Steel head, Kings, and Halibut?
We are primaraly spining fisherman but will be bringing up our fly rods. We have limited knowlage on the use of fly rods.
Any help would be great.
