Copper River Charters
Posted by Viking63 on Apr 13 2006
I've gone out with Mark Hem of Hem's Charters the past two years.  This is a drop off service.  Although nothing is ever guaranteed dipping the Copper, Mark has always been very helpful and honest.  If the dipping is less than hot he will tell you.  They stop by periodically to see how you are doing and if you are doing as well or better than most others out there he'll recommend you stay put.  But they are always willing to move you to a new spot if you want.  The way it has worked in the past, you just head down to O' Brien Creek and you will see their two boats.  It's a first come first serve basis and they start running around 0600.  I think the last pickup of the day is around 9:00 PM.  They will also leave you out overnight if you wish.  I'm using them again this year, we've always done better than most folks down there from what I could see.  Also, last year they (Hem's) opened up a fish cleaning station which is a Godsend.  Beats the crap out of sawhorses and plywood in O'Brien Creek.
