Do you feel lucky?

I booked with them once. They were upstanding and fair and I have no complaints. We had rough seas in the afternoon, and as the skipper was setting the anchor, the anchor carriage on the bow snapped a bolt and a wave caught us and heeled us over. For a tiny moment that seemed like an eternity we hung there while the boat was trying to make up its mind whether to capsize or right. I was next to the helm and I distinctly remember the skipper saying, "We're now in God's hands." My partner's face went ashen-white and I just hung on. Needless to say, we didn't go over, but that was my scariest moment in AK to this very day.

Your large party has negotiating power. You should be able to book the entire boat at a price that is portionately per person less, so be sure and try. If you own the boat, then you own the fish. You might want to consider all of you as a team and divide the entire catch.

Larger boats are more stable than smaller, and that's a plus. Good luck in both your negotiations and fishery.
