Which line to use?
Posted by PastorBob on Apr 12 2006
Hi Doug,
I run two lines, one lead, one regular cheap floating line. I hang 2 pots on one line and 3 on the other. I much prefer the floating line. I can just stuff the line in a bucket as I pull it up, the lead line I have to very carefully coil in a basket as I bring it in. I pull by hand so it works okay. If I had a puller I don't think I could use the lead line. It once got so tangled I couldn't set those pots. On the floating line I clip on a weight about 100' down and have never had any problems with it floating on the surface. Just use a clip like the commercial guys use for long lineing for halibut. I was told that if you let your line float on the surface where it can foul a prop that you will get your line cut.
