The set up I use is a penn 320 with a Kenai Killer 9'. I know this is not what you are looking for but I have tried multiple med/heavy rods with different reels and lost a lot of fish because of it. I had a g loomis II break on a fish, which I never saw, but it felt 50+. I have also tried braided lines which only seemed to cinch down in the reel, even after re spooling as tight as I could get the line. So, I now use 30lb maxima ultra green. I can fit 260+ yds of line and I have never come close to being spooled. The line is plenty strong. You can pull as hard as you can on a fish and it has never broken on me.
