Affects on residents if implemented
Posted by Paul H on Nov 23 2005
The question was raised as to what affect this will have on folks that have their own boats, and on those that take charters.

If you take your own boat out, there should be no affect, so one could take the tact, I have my own boat, screw the other guy.

To those that take charters, there will be a direct increase on the price of the charters, I don't have an exact number, but a friend who runs a charter and is vehemently opposed to the IFQ said that if you look at the approximate value the IFQ's will have, and the debt service for opperators that have to take out a loan to buy an IFQ to keep fishing, it will add $50-100 to the cost of charter.  With increased fuel costs, that'll put a day charter in the $300 range for two buts.
