which is the flyshop in downtown ketchikan.  Maybe you can get him a gift certificate for that shop?

for trout and dolly varden charr, I hear they use naturals in the spring and early summer - caddis and stonefly dries and bitch creek nymphs and things like that, and glo-bugs work well in the late summer and early fall; I had good luck there with orangish iliamna pinkies generally around size #10. Other orange-pinkish egg patterns also worked.

There are a variety of red salmon flies - though I'm not convinced after trying that red salmon even take flies at all.
