Spectra
Posted by Double on Nov 15 2005
Sorry to sound contrarian, but Im not sure what your ultimate problem is with the line.  Ive used it for years, using 60,80 and 100lb spectra from various manufacturers with outstanding success on both Halibut and Sturgeon.  Having had clients land Halibut to 270 lbs ( many over 100) and Sturgeon to nearly 1000lbs (10-12 footers) I cant think of any other type of line Id use to eliminate stretch and parasitic drag.  Knots are critical, but once mastered they hold very well.  The only time Ive seen the line part involved cuts, nicks or abrasion due to boat related issues, rocks or fouled rod eyelets.  Check your rods, perhaps an eye is fouled? Beyond that, I'd use nothing else for deep water jigging.   thx
