Montana Creek
Posted by Jeff Varvil on Nov 11 2005
I had to check my logs on this one. 11 years worth of guiding up there for what its worth. Kings dont show up in Montana Creek historically until the the 24 of June and fishing has been extended the last few years in the valley until the weekend after the 4th of July weekend. It is weekend only fishing. Fri midnight -- Monday midnight

There is only about 3-4 blocks of river you can fish as you cannot fish kings above the Parks Hwy Bridge on Montana Creek. Therefore Most of the fishing is done at the mouth. The Gauntlet we call it. The Valley fishing has exploded the last few years and has turned into a 3-ring circus. If you love to see fights, inept tourists casting jitterbugs and trolling from the bank in front of 100 other guys, cursing river drunks and an occasional live tent skin flick that would make an Amsterdam hooker blush, than the Mouth of Montana creek and the mouth of Willow are your kind of Rivers.
You can float down stream on the little willow and Little Su and the Big Willow and see fewer people and they always seem to be in a better mood than at the mouth. More fish and less people.
Ps. Just for the record, I dont have anything against Amsterdam.
Good Luck
Varvs
