I'm arriving in Anch this Thursday for 9 days of everything....Denali, Kenai, Kasilof, etc....including the possibility of some walking in to fish anywhere fish will eat.....is a side arm necassary??..I own a S&W 40 cal. Berreta I will bring if this is the case...but I have heard that you want to bring one with a short handle so it is easier for the brown bears to deposit it up your rear end after you piss them off with a couple of hollow points. Don't want to travel with this gun but will if it will keep me sane in the back country.
