What a beautiful river she is! It was my very first time to fish there but I managed to catch several Silver salmon. In my opinion, Silver salmon fishing in the Anchor is way more exciting and satisfying than lining Red in Russian that I enjoyed last summer. I want to know more about this beautiful river and its fishing. I would be grateful if you ladies and gentlemen in this website can share the knowledge of great Anchor River with me. Allow me to tell you about my fishing to begin with. I fished in Slide Hole first with #8 Intermediate line. I am not good at dead-drifting fly so I casted upstream and gave quick 6" strokes as the line drug the fly over the hole. It was a rainy morning and no so many people were fishing by 0900. I got 3 bites with yellow buck tail streamer and managed to land one. It was a huge buck silver, at least 15lbs. (Well, it really seemed that big!) Next 2 days I spent a lot of time at the mouth, casting long with the yellow deciever with #10 Type I sinking line and got 1 hen and 2 flounders. It was exciting to see a fish at the end of more than 25 yards of fly line away, pulling the backing line, running back to the sea. I am a fly fisherman but next year I am taking my sister's family with me, so any info on the fishing in Anchor river is quite welcome. I thank you for your time and kindness in advance, folks.
