Getting dark

Depends on what you mean by "evenings."  Our daylight is growing shorter by over 5 mins a day.  If you don't have much time before dark you can try some of the stocked lakes in town.

If you have more time you could try driving to Whittier (about an hour) to fish for silver salmon.  Be sure to check the tunnel openings though (go to Alaska DOT website).
