Fishing Cordova
Posted by PApassion4AK on Aug 29 2005
My husband & I will be in AK from Sept.12 til Oct.1. We will arrive in Cordova Sept.13 $ stay at least 10 days. I left the trip back to Anc. open so we could maybe check out some other parts of AK. We were thinking of taking the ferry to Whittier or Valdez & staying a few days then driving to Anc. We will be fishing mainly for Silvers but might try for other fish and my do some hunting. Could anyone give some info on what type of fishing gear we will need (rods, reels, line) and clothing will we need waders or just tufs? I know to bring good rain gear and merino socks but what about longjohns at that time of year?
We were in Cordova in late Oct. early Nov.last year, it snowed about 6' during our stay. We didn't get to fish, but did get to hunt one day. We really enjoyed ourslves, what beautiful country. Can't wait to come back.
We are trying to travel light, we over packed last time & would like avoid that this trip, but we do want to bring our sporting equipment.
Any info on what to bring or info on other place would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Marge
