Electronic Fishing Lures
Posted by AlaskanAuthor on Aug 12 2005
I'm the USA distributor of this product and since the question about its performance came up on the Forum, I thought I'd respond to it. Please understand, I am not using this space to promote it (I pay for that one with our webmaster), rather I thought I would provide some input that might prove helpful.
The line is evolving. I was in China this July with the inventor and we worked together to improve it. New forthcoming items will have flashers with 3 batteries instead of 2. (longer life) As well, we have replaced the paper insert that wraps the batteries with a plastic insert to ensure better circutry. The flashers will work wet or dry underwater, but when not being used the batteries should be removed and the interior unit dried.
I found that the Chinese manufacturer of the flasher used substandard batteries and that they corroded in storage inside the units. Those batteries have been eliminated. Newer products are now shipped with upgraded batteries.
As far as the cold is concerned (and that is extremely important in AK waters)I have froze lit flashers in cubes of ice and have watched them flash continually for up to 2 days.
Fishing with flashing light is a remarkable concept, but as with any new product, bugs are discovered and then worked out.
Yes, they are inexpensive. We're not talking rocket science here; my inventor took a kid's novelty and beefed it with an O-ring to make it submersible and then designed rubber products (hoochies) to encase it. We work directly with each other and that keeps cost down. Heaven help me when I launch the ELECTRONIC BASS WORM; those suspicious country boys will laugh me silly until they tie one on!
By the way, the Chinese fish in stocked ponds all over the region of Beijing. At sea level they have a really decent type of bottom feeder, and once you're in the mountains they have rainbows in traditional appearance and also bright gold in color. Restaurants in support of the ponds co-join them, and the Chinese are masters in the preparation of fish. The eating was great, but I sorely missed the action of fishing wild waters.
Hope this answers your questions...
