Pelican is a saltwater fisherman's dream.  There are some smaller rivers and streams that hold trout but you're better off on the upper Kenai or Iliamna if you want big rainbows.  If you want rockfish, halibut, and silvers there is no better place than Pelican in August.  If you do have your heart set on the freshwater fishing around Pelican, bring a big gun as the brownies are thick.
