I took my 6 and 7 year old boys down in the drift boat yesteday from coopers landing to jim's landing.  The fishing was very good, although this was the first time I did it.  I was set up for rainbows and dolly's and the boyz had coho hooks with spin rods.  They hooked into lots of reds, although they really were all "red".  They couldn't handle them either--they needed bigger rods, maybe I should have reversed the roles...I suppose there are lots more fresh ones coming.  I really think the best fishing seemed to be from the russian river to jim's landing though. When my wife picked us up she really wanted to catch a fish so I stopped on the way back and she landed four red's in 45 minutes, all 1st run spawners.  I only saw one fresh one caught.  A bunch of guys were keeping those old things--gross!  We all had a blast though, and that's my report.
