Pike Fishing
Posted by bakerb on May 27 2005
Ice,

I would suggest you consider a fly-out to Minto Flats.  There are some outfitters that will fly you there (about 30 minutes), provide cabin, boat, probably even Rods for about $150/person for an overnight excursion.

Minto Flats can provide World Class fishing for Northern Pike.  It is not uncommon to catch 40 inch Pike at Minto.

There are a few gravel pits, sloughs, etc... along the Highways around Fairbanks that host large Pike, but they are not in numbers that I would consider reliable.  Most of the Pike that are caught in the local lakes will be small.

Good luck with your Dad!  I don't think that a man can ever fish enough with his Father.
