deshka float
Posted by hunterdad on May 24 2005
My wife and I did it last year in mid june. Water was a little low but the fishing was great. We camped along the river on the gravel bars without problems. The private lands are pretty easy to pcik out. Until you get to the marker where the legal king fishing starts there are usually few to no jet boats. Check the regs this year on catch and release for bows in the upper section.  One thing we noticed was that moose ck is pretty pristine, no trash, no bad camps until you hit the marker on the Deshka. After that almost all the camp sites were trashed ( even in early June) and we finally gave up and just finished the trip.  You might also think about arrainging to spend the night at the lodge near the mouth of the Deshka. great folks and food and the soft bed and showers were appreciated. We used our 16ft cat. AT times with the low water we had to walk it, but there was another group with 14-16ft rafts who did fine. The group who looked like they were having way to much fun was a group with paddle cats. They packed light and just blasted through.
Its a great trip. Good luck
