Processor
Posted by alaskanfishguides on May 21 2005
Using a processor is a great idea. First of all, quality vacuum sealers will run you a couple hundred bucks; secondly, they are not as good as a commercial sealer, so your fish will not stay fresh as long.
I recommend Ed's Kasilof Seafoods. They are located right at the bridge in Soldotna. They can vacuum and freeze for $1.25 per pound or smoke for $3.95 per pound. This is a quality processor that caters to the sport fisherman.
You can find them on a web search or a link on my site: http://www.alaskanfishguides.com Browse to the Caring for your catch page and the link will be at the bottom of the page.
One statement on another post on this subject may be a bit misleading. Your bag limit is in effect for the entire day, not until you get the fish processed. Many people make the mistake (intentionally at times) of catching a limit, processing and then catching another limit. The bag limit is for the day and the possession limit is typically related to the bag limit.
Good luck on your fishing trips...
