Moocher not flyer
Posted by Brian Richardson on May 20 2005
Best bet here is to go with a Shimano Mooching Reels...  just about anyone that has used one for this intended purpose becomes a believer in this system.

- large spool diameters for quick retrieval and a dependable big-time one-way drag.

I outfit my tours w/ the 2000GT, and there is a newer model called the 4000GT.

Far better for what you are intending to do than a fly reel and will take any abuse you or the fish will dish out.  You will not be repairing this one even w/ everyday hard handling in heavy currents over many years of use!

If you are in Anchorage B&J is the place to get em'... as for Tom Robertson (tell him I sent ya please) - retail is $75-$80
