Juneau Fishing Spots
Posted by art on May 09 2005
I wouldn't get too far from Juneau.  The spring kings will be running hard around May 21st.  Since you are heading South here are some local spots to try on your way.  Back side of Douglas Island From Marmion to Pt. Hilda (I like to fish right by the tombstone on Douglas), Pt. Bishop and Pt. Salisbury are hot.  If you are leaving from Downtown Juneau, I would start trolling right at the pier at Dupont and troll all the way to Bishop.  Then I would head across and fish Pt. Greely.  Also Pt. Arden, Doty Cove... there are kings everywhere in May but those spots are hot.  Although there is now a gillnet fishery on Mondays and Tuesday around the Taku so try and plan accordingly.  Jaw Pt. has been hot lately, also trolling from Slocum to Suicide Cove can be productive.  The rocks right outside of Limestone can be good too.  That ought to get you started.  You are hitting it right about the peak of the wild Taku run.
