Fishing on the Kenai
Posted by alaskanfishguides on Apr 29 2005
Greetings.  I recommend that you spend much time studying the regulations related to fishing on the Kenai River... much of the bank is closed to fishing because of bank restoration.  You can find a link via my website http://www.alaskanfishguides.com/fishing_tips.htm.

Yet, there are many places to find great fishing, many have boardwalk access around and about Soldotna.  Sterling is another option for fishing for Reds. Finally, the Russian River will hold much promise.

I suggest that you make sure to wear fishing glasses and a hat to reduce the possibility of injury or catching yourself.

For Kings, the Kasilof will be finishing the run.  There will be some kings, but more silvers by the end of July.  Bank fishing is possible out of the Crooked Creek Rec site.  The Kenai will still have good king fishing, however your best access and chance of success is with a boat and probably a guide.

You can also find a couple of links for lodging in the Soldotna area by looking at http://www.alaskanfishguides.com/lodging_links.htm. ; The Log Cabin B & B is a wonderful place to stay and is centrally located.

Hope that helps...
