Orvis Wonder Line: maintenance
Posted by otterbfishin on Oct 14 2004
Ok, the consencus on two forums is that the best flyline is the Orvis Wonderline.  It was noted by BlueMoose that it was a good line with "proper care".  So, what is proper care?  How do you folks care for your flylines?  I'll have to admit that I give my lines very little care.  I fish two days a week and clean the lines about twice a season; the last time is when I put them away for the winter.  This is obviously not enough, or "proper care", as my lines seem to degrade fairly rapidly.  I'm lucky to get two good seasons out of a line.  I start greasing them with silicone products when they don't shoot any more.  You can teach an old dog new tricks, and I'm willing to learn.  What is proper care of a good flyline?
Thanks,
otter
