Less Busy/More Easy
Posted by AlaskanAuthor on Oct 08 2004
Everything the Moose told you is accurate and helpful if you stay on mainland AK. However, there is another option that can take your party to a fishery that is less crowded, and in my opinion, much easier.

That option is Kodiak Island. I have fished there and on the mainland at the exact times you are seeking. Charters into the sea reach productive areas in less than an hour. Road trips to the streams reach productive areas in just minutes. Accomodations and amenities are just as good as the mainland.

Less busy and more easy has a drawback; you must plan a connector flight to and from the island from Anchorage. This extra cost per person is around $250 and there are plenty of flights daily. Your decision therefore, will be based on your own research of which of the two you care to pick.

Both areas have fabulous opportunities and great outfitters (like Moose). It is up to you to determine how you want to play it and neither will dissapoint you.
Run the buttons on this website. Outdoorsdirectory features all the products and information you need to assist you with your decision.

Good luck.
