PWS Halibut
Posted by bearbones on Aug 20 2004
Ive heard a lot about the long liners wiping out the fish but this has been one of the most successful years weve had in the PWS.  The big halibut have moved up into shallower water inside the sound.  In the past two trips we have caught fish over 100 lbs in water as shallow as 38 feet.  Last weekend we were catching silvers on our halibut rigs and wouldnt you know we ended up with two halibut over 100 and one that actually weighed 154.8.  and one that was 179.4 it taped at 210.  It seems to me the halibut have followed the silvers toward their spawning grounds.  The big fish arent out at the lighthouse possibly because they have been fished out but possibly because they have move with their food source.

Oh and Dave I finally found the shrimp :-)Yummy!!! thanks for all the your advice on this web site.
