All locations have fish
Posted by Paul H on Aug 12 2004
Honestly, the best halibut waters are Dutch Harbor and Kodiak, vastly superiour to Cook Inlet or Prince William Sound.

Asside from that, I don't think Whittier, Seward, Deep Creek or Homer have much over one another.  Homer is a darn long drive from Anchorage.  I'd opt for Seward due to the silvers.

One thing to consider is a six pack vs one of the larger boats.  The bigger boats have to catch alot more fish in the same time period, and hence I personally think a good sixpack is the way to go.  The captain has the option of targeting the bigger fish when he only has to land 12 halibut vs 30 or 50 on the bigger boats.

As far as sea sickness, a good night sleep the night before, and no heavy drinking are certainly a benefit.  Also bring easily digested foods, a box of saltines is your friend.
