Basic help...
Posted by AlaskanAuthor on Aug 05 2004
Senor Antonio,

I do hope you get the chance to fish Alaska when you make it there.  Angling opportunities can be outstanding dependent on where you are.
Fishing is generally done by the commuting traveler via riverbank opportunity. Therefore you will need waders; any kind will do.

Spinning rods and reels for general usage as yours usually are medium and lightweight spinning outfits; around 17 lbs test line on one and perhaps 12 lbs on the other. Flies can be casted by spinners using lead weight to push the lure to the river's bottom where the fish generally are.

Termial gear varies, but around the mainland the Vibrax Spinner and the Pixxe Spoon are most favored. Include in this lot the Russian River Streamer Fly. You'll be able to pick them up almost anywhere fishing tackle is sold.

Polarized glasses are a must. So is insect repellant. And so is your fishing license.

When your host takes you to any spot where other persons are gathered around, that usually indicates the fishing is good because the fish and people are there. Watch what others do, and then step in and give it your best shot.

A few days is not much lead time. There are numerous bookstores right in the airport at Anchorage. Browse the "Alaska Fishing Sections" and consider purchasing any one of them that might assist you even further.

"Los pescados en Alaska son mas grande de las trutas en Espana. Pero sus tiempo en estado numero quarenta nueve es especial! Buena suerte mi amigo..."
