If your talking actually boating the inlet

Buy a 28ft deep v boat with twin motors adequate to get accross if one goes down. Ok a 24 footer will work but if your thinking a jet john or any flat bottom boat I would not even consider. What you see at the beach versus 10, 15 or 20 miles out will be totaly different.

Take the plane man. The inlet is no place to mess around in a little boat with no power.
