I calculated it out and it seems to be a "wash". Whittier is 2 hours closer but 20 for the tunnel, 15 to launch and I think 8 or 15 to park.
Seward is an extra 80 miles or so each way for diesel at 12 mpg but only 10 for launching and parking. But Seward is also closer to decent halibut grounds.
