Go 4-stoke
Posted by pnybowhunter on Jul 05 2005
I bought the new 115 Mercury Optimax which is the same thing just made by Mercury.  Mercury is the one that invented the concept about 6 or 7 years ago I think.  It is a nice motor but I am not overly impressed with it.  I don't see were it is getting any better mileage than a 4 stroke and it is not quieter than a 4 stroke.  It is definately quieter than a traditional 2 stroke, and it is cleaner running than the traditional 2 stoke, but still seem like it burns a lot of oil, and let me tell you, that is where they get you is the cost of the special oil that you have to get from the dealer.  My last motor was a 4 stroke and I liked that better, next time I will go back to the 4 stroke.
