Lowrance GPS
Posted by Hoosier Daddy on May 16 2005
I have a Lowrance GPS and bought the Navionics Classic Map of southern Alaska and I love it.  It shows rocks the size of garbage cans sticking out of the water and lists all of the sharp up croppings off of the ocean floor.  It additionally shows you the type of bottom in a lot of areas (Mud, Rock, Coral, etc).  I always keep paper charts on board just in case, but I trust my Lowrance with the Navionics Maps with my life, and have had to a few times when the fog and bad weather that is very common in Alaska rolls in.  I highly recoomend it.  It's a little complicated to figure it out at first, but if you take the time to read the manual(God forbid) you'll be able to figure it out.
