blue foam

I believe the blue foam you refer to is manufactured by DOW chemical co. and is very good at maintaining it's integrity for many years but if it's the same as used under many road system's it WILL break down and absorb water after longer periods ( 10-20 years+ ). I believe that the white foam called R-Tech manufactured by Insulfoam is a better product for long term. My understanding is that one style uses a chemical extrusion process to form the foam beads while the other uses extreme pressure and or heat. I believe the DOW is chemically based and the chemicals eventually breakdown allowing the foam cells to collapse thus creating absorption. Don't know if this helps, just passing on what I heard. Best Regards - Mr Ed
