Follow the lead dog.
Posted by Daveinthebush on Apr 06 2005
When I first started going out I went with friends.  They showed me what to watch for and acted as lead dog.  When I felt comfortable I cruised the areas on my own.

In one spot, especially bad, I waited and followed other boats through and charted the turns on my handheld GPS.  I might suggest getting a chart plotter compatable with a computer navigation program.  My handheld GPS, communicates with mine so transfering points is a brease.

Be careful and don't take chances.  Almost every weekend some is in trouble out there.
