This is a replica of the original book that was printed in 1947. Soft cover 273 pages. 6" x 9" x.75". 79 B& W photos. 2 Maps. (Taken from the Preface:) This volume covers an expedition made into the interior of Alaska and the Yukon Territory by a party of three men, of which the author was one. The objects of our trip have been stated in the first chapter and will not be repeated in this introductory statement. The events of this expedition stand out in the memory of the writer so prominently and the scenery so magnificently, that his narrative has been written independently of the writer's notes, accurately made each day, which have been consulted for the purpose of verification only. The one predominating desire has been that all our experiences be related as they actually occurred, and all observations be recorded as they were made. As a further precaution against any inaccuracies which might inadvertently appear, and fearing there might be some conflict in our memories or impressions, the manuscript was submitted to the other surviving member of our party with the request that he make suggestions and corrections. With the exception of one minor detail, which necessitated a letter to our outfitter before the writer was convinced and was willing to make the suggested change, the manuscript received his unqualified endorsement. The photographs, with a few noted exceptions, were selected from a considerable number taken by the author. The kindness of the publishers of Robert W. Service's poems is also acknowledged, for their permission to use a number of Service's verses, taken from The Spell of the Yukon and Ballads of a Cheechako. G.O. Young Table of Contents
