Security and Privacy

First of all, are we who we say we are?  In order to demonstrate that we have a commitment to safe and effective e-commerce, we have taken the extra (and expensive) step of obtaining a Digital Certificate from VeriSign.  This certificate demonstrates that we are a legitimate business.  You can find our business listed in the State of Alaska Business License Database and in Dun & Bradstreet. You can click on the seal at right to see VeriSign's documentation that we have met their criteria for security.

Second, is it safe to give us your credit card information over the Web? No one can guarantee absolute security for anything....nevertheless, our answer is yes!  While ordinary communications on the world wide web are sent in plain text, we have taken the extra step of encrypting your credit card data to insure your security.  We use the Secure Socket Layers (SSL) protocol.

Here's how your order is processed:

1.  When you enter your credit card information, you will notice in the lower corner of your web browser (Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator) a small padlock icon.  This shows you that your browser is converting the information you send to our server using a secure cipher.  Some browsers have menu commands that allow you to verify the authenticity of security systems, including ours, if you wish.

2.  Your order information, including the credit card data, remains on our server until an operator obtains the information.  The operator also uses a secure browser connection to download the information.  Your credit card information is never transferred in plain text over the Internet.  The information is not stored in a plain text database on the internet!  

3.  Our order department picks your order from inventory and ship it via Priority Mail (within the US).  In some cases, products may be drop shipped from other locations.

If you are still concerned about security, or if your browser doesn't show the lock (it only appears on the final pages of the ordering process where we ask for your credit card number), you can call or FAX your order to us (PDF or  Word order form).  Please call +1.907.895.4919. Our staff can take your order information from 9 AM - 5 PM Alaska time (4 hours behind USA Eastern time = GMT minus 9 hours).

Third, is your private address information safe with us?  Our privacy policy is simple: we don't share our address information with anyone.  Period.

If you give us your e-mail address you will never hear from us again after your order is complete, unless you give us permission to send you occasional (<4 times per year) product announcements.
