Dozens of maps, diagrams and illustrations give crucial details on where to go, how to fish each area, and how to identify the local salmon species.  Atcheson also covers the well-known "combat zones" that are so renowned for their large salmon and trout that anglers line up shoulder to shoulder in pursuit.  In addition, he reveals how to find out-of-the-way, peaceful stretches of water where beauty of the Alaskan wilderness can still be enjoyed in solitude.

Dave Atcheson has lived on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula since 1985.  He has worked for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and has written for Alaska Magazine, Fly Fishing Quarterly, Outdoor Life, and other publications.  He lives in Sterling, Alaska.
