NEWS: May 4, 2005 -- The state of Alaska has relaxed sport fishing regulations for king salmon in Southeast Alaska. This is going to provide additional harvest opportunities. You can read the entire ADF&G news release here >>> NEWS: May 4, 2005 -- Errors are a fact of life in any significant publication, and the Sport Fishing regulations for this year are no exception. ADF&G has a list of these errors that you may want to mark in your copy of the regulations. MAGAZINE: May 10, 2005 -- We posted two new halibut recipes to the Outdoors Alaska Fisherman's Cookbook today. NEW AREA INFORMATION: May 24, 2005 -- We added valuable information about fishing in the Whittier area of Southcentral Alaska, including transportation, species, geography, and services available in the area. With the relatively new joint use tunnel now making direct passenger vehicle transportation to and from the area possible, new fishing and outdoor opportunities have become more practical. NEWS: May 27, 2005 -- The Copper River dipnet fishery is scheduled to open on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, according to a May 24 ADFG news release. NEWS: May 27, 2005 -- The king salmon bag and possession limit on the Deshka River has been doubled starting today through July 13. Escapement goals have been exceeded for some years, and this makes additional harvest possible, ADF&G reports. NEWS: May 27, 2005 -- Sport fishing has been closed on a portion of the Kenai River immediately above the confluence of the Middle Killey River where smolt traps are operating. NEWS: May 27, 2005 -- Effective through the end of 2005, king salmon in excess of 20 inches may not be kept on a portion of the Situk River near Yakutat in southeast Alaska. This is based on an ADF&G emergency order. NEWS: May 27, 2005 -- The lower portion of Pillar Creek, which flows into Kodiak Island's Monashka Bay has been opened to king salmon fishing from June 1 to July 31.
