The council represents diverse interests, including snowmachining, boating, hunting, trapping, shooting, sportsmen's associations, trail riding, fishing and others. The council publishes a quarterly newsletter. There are annual membership dues that support the operations of the group. . Life and Sustaining Business memberships are available.

Officially the Club was formed "to improve and increase the sport of fly fishing in Alaska," especially fly fishing for trout.
