Is that a 300 or 350 Fourtrax? Sounds to me like it has water in the gas or in the engine. I'd clean out the carb real good and check the engine oil. Put a fresh filter and oil in it, charge your battery and check your plug for spark. It's possible that all it needs is some minor tune up stuff done to it.
