35 gibbs loading information
Posted by trixie Mississippi on Jul 18 2006
the gibbs in 35 calibre is one of the very best of best in 35 calibre rifles.  it likes Reloader 15 the best and it will sing a loud and fast song with the 250 gr bullet  with 61,5 gr  and will do about 2750 about the same as a 30/06 with the 180. and will do an hones t 2850 with the 225  with 62,5 of the R 15,   First of all I have tried the Varget and to  get the same results I had to use the same charge but the pressure was much great with varget..  as you varget is a product of australia  and R-15 is a product of Sweden and I fell it is about the same if not the same as Norma a very good product indeed. My gibbs is a 25" Montana BBL on a whitworth action butler creek stock and ther is but on scope for alaska and that is the Bushnell  3200 or 4200   I like the  2-7   .  I have always been a burris or Leapold ,person until I tried the 3200 in difficult weather and there the 3200 is just a better al weather optic.. I have some experience with a 220 speer bullet at 2940, but it is not what the gibbs was designed for..  I also have used 280 swift and 275 original barnes both too slow for a long shot..  also the new barnes is too long for the short neckon the gibbs...  I own many many rifles but my 35 gibbs is my favorite for hunting everthing except mabe a buff then it will be the 416 Taylor..  but everything else the gibbs with do fine .. even a 200 gr  hornady at 3000 will do a antelope in ..
