keep the 270
Posted by elmerkeithclone on May 02 2006
Most likely anything that you would kill with the 300 win mag would be just as dead if shot with your 270.

The trade in value of a Remington 700 ADL won't come close to covering the $500-$600 dollar range that you are looking at. So more than likely you are gonna take it in the shorts when you when you go to trade it.

Since there is no such thing as the perfect all around rifle but there is such a thing as the perfect rifle battery. Then I suggest that you keep the 270 because it is near perfect for the middle gun in this battery. Jack Oconner killed everything but the big bears with his and the critters aren't any tougher today than they were then. Since you are wanting more thump then go with something like the 338 win mag in addition to your 270. You'll now be well on the way to having a perfect rifle battery. Besides if the 270 was your first rifle then trading it would only lead to regrets.

I will agree that the Ruger 77 is the ultimate gun for the money!
