If you're not sure what to look for to make sure it's been well cared for, find a friend that knows what to look for to go with you. Most gun-nuts will use about any excuse to go to the store, so being able to say "honey, I'm helping a friend" would probably help them get their fix. And another interesting thing about gun nuts is that they wind up trading away one perfectly good gun just so they can get the next thing they've got their eye on... and usually nothing's wrong with the gun they're getting rid of (think about what you're in the process of doing). My point being, there's a lot of really good used guns for much lower prices than new.
